Will Beta Blogger work on my site?

If you have an Office Live Small Business website and you're using the built in site designer tools, it will work on your site. If it doesn't look right when you first install it, we'll work with you to fix it. Keep in mind though, it can't fix problems on non Beta Blogger pages.

Will it work with any browser?

Yes, but only IE browsers support the RICH TEXT EDITOR in the blog posting form. So if you want a "wysiwyg" experience which allows automatic insertion of images, links, tables etc. and don't want to mess with code, we recommend using IE. With a browser like Firefox or Safari, you'll need to format your posts with html tags. There's a link to a list of usable tags right there on the form.

Can I add images and video?

Yes. Images are easy. In the blog post editor, click the image icon and enter the url of your hosted image (IE only). You may have to adjust the width to be sure it fits.
OLSB restricts the tags that can be entered into a business applications list, so adding video is more of a challenge. On request, we'll provide instructions with the purchase of our Premium package. See a video demo.

How did you do the custom site search?

We used Google custom search. It was the easiest to configure to display the results on the same page and is simple to customize. We put the code Google provides in a custom footer module and tweaked the css to get things where we wanted them.

How did you do the photo galleries?

All the galleries/slideshows are javascript or css driven and were borrowed from sites like dynamicdrive.com, cssplay.co.uk and pictobrowser.com. The point was to show that even though there are restrictions on what code can be entered into a business applications list, with a little creativity almost anything can be done with Beta Blogger.

How did you do the scrolling sidebar on the "design" page?

That was done with an awesome javascript called "Scrollable content script II" from dynamicdrive.com. We customized it with the up/down arrows and some css for positioning.

How does the style changer on the "design" page work?

We wanted to demonstrate the flexibility of Beta Blogger by showing a lot of different styles without the need to open new pages and found a very simple javascript to do it. We created about 20 different style sheets, placed links to them on the page and the script does the rest.
